Runnage Farm is a traditional moorland farm of approximately 220 acres owned by the Duchy of Cornwall. It has a rich past dating back to 1304/05 when it was first recorded as an ancient tenement of the Forest of Dartmoor. The Coaker Family has lived and worked on this farm since 1843.
Like all high moorland farms in this area of Dartmoor, Runnage concentrates on livestock production, in particular cattle and sheep. In addition to this we also own 30 traditional Dartmoor ponies on the open moor.
Like many farmers these days we have diversified and alongside our traditional farming, we have camping barns and camping fields; we sell our own beef and lamb.
We also have our herd of Dartmoor ponies, which live most of their life roaming free on the moors. However, each year they are collected in the annual drift, given a full health check and the foals identified ready for sale..
